About this playlist
The 'red priest' of Venice is best known for his 'Four Seasons', an exquisite collection of concertos for violin and small orchestra. Having taken inspiration from his young charges at the Ospedale della Pietà, many of Vivaldi's works are accessible to students, and his vocal music tends to favour the female voice. Don't be fooled for a moment, though, that his music is easy to play. His reputation as one of the giants of the Baroque era is well deserved, and his work is in no danger of falling out of fashion.
