Émigré

About this playlist

The outbreaks of the First and Second World Wars forced many 20th century composers to flee their homelands in pursuit of a safer and better existence. In some cases, life in exile had a significant impact on their musical style – Igor Stravinsky fell in love with American jazz traditions, but for others, immigration made the bond to their cultures even stronger.
