About this playlist
Sir Stephen Cleobury, who passed away on Friday, was one of the great custodians of British choral music – having served as Director of Music at King’s College, Cambridge for 37 years.
His gift for drawing exceptional results from his singers, and his passion for new music will live on through the iconic Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, broadcast to millions across the world every Christmas, where he raised the standards of the choir during his tenure, and established the tradition of commissioning a new carol from a living composer every year.
This playlist celebrates his life and work through the beautiful music he loved and performed.
