Czech Composers

Czech Composers

About this playlist

Though the influence of the Habsburg Monarchy and the Austrian empire shaped the style of Bohemian composers and artists for over 300 years, it was composers such as Smetana and Dvořák who helped the Czech Republic to develop its own musical voice, absorbing indigenous folk influences. Later, composers like Janáček and Martinů continued to expand the repertoire, well and truly putting Czech music on the map.
