English pianist Peter Hill is an outstanding musician and scholar. Renowned in particular for his interpretations and research into 20th century music, notably that of Messiaen, Peter Hill's recordings of the music of Bach on the Delphian label have received overwhelmingly positive reviews, showing his impressive versatility as a pianist.
Peter hill has done extensive research into the music and life of Olivier Messiaen and has become renowned for his interpretation Messian's piano music. He discovered, premiered and recorded a previously unknown work of Messiaen, an 11-minute solo piano work called La Fauvette Passerinette, which he recorded on Delphian. "It was in the late stage of my research, in 2012, that I came across a dozen pages of musical script in Messiaen’s handwriting, that were not birdsong but that were musical sketches."
Peter Hill was fortunate to have had lessons with Nadia Boulanger, one of the most revered figures in 20th century music, who described him as ‘a born artist, a beautiful, natural talent.’
