French choral conductor and bass vocalist Lionel Meunier began his music education in childhood when he took up the recorder and trumpet and studied solfège. He attended the Institut Supérieur de Musique et de Pédagogie, where he studied with Tatiana Babut du Marès and Hugo Reyne, graduating in 2004. Meunier also pursued postgraduate studies with Rita Dams and Peter Kooy at the Royal Conservatory of the Hague. Meunier has sung with several choirs, including the Collegium Vocale Gent, the Amsterdam Baroque Choir, Arsys Bourgogne, the Choeur de Chambre de Namur, and Ex Tempore, as well as with smaller ensembles, such as I Favoriti de La Fenice, the soloists of the Choeur de Chambre de Namur, Cappella Pratensis, and the Netherlands Bach Society. In 2004, Meunier and pianist Francis Penning formed Vox Luminis, the vocal ensemble he has led as artistic director in concerts and master classes, focusing on Renaissance and Baroque music. Meunier received the “Namurois de l’Année” award for culture in 2013. He has recorded for Ricercar, Alpha, Ramée, and Musique en Wallonie.
