Editor's Choice

Daniel Barenboim has worn many hats during his long and illustrious career. Pianist, conductor, teacher, humanitarian, and co-founder of visionary projects to encourage the co-operation of musicians from Israel and Palestine, Barenboim has received many accolades for his work both on and off the concert platform. Having previously recorded all five of Beethoven's piano concertos with Otto Klemperer and the Philharmonia Orchestra, he returned to the studio more than twenty years later, this time taking on the direction himself. Barenboim revisits the fourth and fifth concertos in a version that is well worth hearing for the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra's incredible playing, as well as Barenboim's prodigious performances as he directs from the keyboard.
